Capture 360

No 360 camera, no tripod, no app to install. Scroll to see how to hold it, then try it right here.

Hold

Capture 360 works both ways, and you choose when you start. Sideways, with two hands and thumbs low on the screen, is the steadier hold, so that is what we show here.

Hold

The yellow point is the main camera. Keep your fingers on the lower half of the back, and they stay out of every shot.

The one rule

Red is the arm swing: the lens travels 100 to 400 mm, close furniture lands somewhere new in every frame, and the seams show. Green is the right way: the phone turns, and the yellow point, your lens, stays on the spot.

The one rule

Keep the phone over one spot and walk around it in small steps, elbows in. You are the violet dot. Your body moves, the lens does not.

The path

About 67 dots cover the whole sphere in seven rows, from straight up to straight down. Bring the circle onto a dot and hold still. At 70 % you can already continue.

Your turn

Drag to aim the phone. Bring the circle onto a dot and hold it there. This is Capture 360, running on the screen in front of you.

0 of 0 shots

Hold steady on each dot

A hint appears if the phone moves while it is aimed. Pivot in place and it clears.

Pick how shots fire

Auto shoots when the frame matches its neighbour. Timer, Instant and Manual are one tap away.

Undo a bad shot

Retry last takes out the newest frame and reopens its dot, so you never start over for one mistake.

Stop when it is enough

Continue appears at 70 %. Stitch as it is works even earlier, if you only need part of the room.

Do I need a 360 camera?

No. Capture 360 uses your phone’s own camera. You take a series of shots, and they are stitched into one 360 panorama.

Do I need to install an app?

No. It runs in your phone’s browser. Open the page, allow the camera and motion sensors, and start.

Is it free?

Yes. Capture 360 is a free tool.

Which phones does it work on?

It is built for iPhone. It needs a camera and motion sensors in the browser.

Do I have to hold my phone sideways?

No. You can shoot sideways or upright, and you choose before you start. Keep the same hold for the whole capture.

How many shots does a 360 take?

About 67, in seven rows from straight up to straight down. You can continue once 70 % of the dots are done.

Why do I see seams in my panorama?

Usually the lens moved between shots. Turn around the lens instead of swinging your arm, and walk around the phone in small steps. Close furniture shows this the most.

Can I start on my computer?

Yes. Open Capture 360 on your computer and it hands the capture over to your phone.

Shoot it yourself

It runs in your phone’s browser, with nothing to install.

Ask a friend to shoot it

Not there yourself? Send the link to someone in the room. They need no app and no account.
